"Unless you try to do something beyond what you have already mastered, you will never grow." Ralph Waldo Emerson
I’m always amazed at how much wisdom can be expressed in a simple sentence, and this Emerson quote sums up how instrumental my having this mindset has been in my transformation from traditional artistic mediums to mobile applications. In the past I created by drawing, painting, collage, and printmaking, today, most of my work is created using mobile applications on an iPad. Here, I’m able to seamlessly employ elements from each and to work no matter where I am. To say life changing, would be putting it mildly.
Somerset Digital Studio magazine honored me with a five page tutorial feature in their Spring 2017 issue titled Newfound Freedom: Embracing Change as a Subject & in my Process. In it, I discuss how being open to this shift not only transformed who I am as an artist but also my ability to work continually, despite a busy lifestyle. Managing Editor, Jana Holstein selected four images from my Being Set Free series and asked me to share a bit about my processes in creating them. I hope, you’ll all pick up a copy and give it a read!
